Meanwhile In Manhattan Beach

They've got a new City Manager, Mark Danaj. He gets base pay of $250,000, $15,000 moving allowance, $3,500/month for three months for temporary housing, $400/month car allowance (I think we give CM Martín Magaña $600/month, so take that Manhattan Beach!), $17,500/year into his 401(a) plan, and a "$1.7 million home loan with a 0.73 percent interest rate for the first three years." I thought that sounded rather excessive until Zillow informed me that the "median home value in Manhattan Beach is $1,629,100."

Okay then, Mr. Danaj will just be Joe Middle-class in Manhattan Beach, I guess.

I have no problem with geography.

Any time I add a post to this blog, there is already somebody out there who already knows the information I include. Some people are familiar with the municipal government of Manhattan Beach, for example. Some could probably list median home prices for every city within a 25-mile radius of their home. I, OTOH, don't even know the median home price in Desert Hot Springs. I'd have to look it up. I couldn't have told you that Manhattan Beach was even an incorporated city without looking it up...or reading the article I linked to.

Beyond myself, I have readers who probably couldn't find even Los Angeles on a map.

I will continue to post information here that I find interesting. Some of it will be new to me, some won't; but there is always potentially someone who can pipe up and say "Oh, I knew that!"

You do realize where Manhattan Beach is. It's on the Beach. In Los Angeles. West side. With a Beach. LA County. Just south of the El Segundo Military Industrial LAX industrial area. C'mon...
