"Hot Springs Hotel"

I just learned about the Showtime series Hot Springs Hotel that was shot in Desert Hot Springs in 1997. As you can see, it was pretty highbrow stuff:

The location was the Miracle Springs Resort while it was in foreclosure, prior to its current ownership. According to a 1998 article in the Desert Sentinel some DHS residents were upset because of the brief flash of the city's welcome sign. Then-City Councilmember Elizabeth Donnelly suggested the TV series was "pornographic," and demanded an apology from City Manager Bob Wilburn because he should have at least been told that the city's sign would be in the show. Karl Baker, just a citizen at the time, said she was over-reacting and that the film had brought $60,000 to the city.

The DVD of the series seems not to be currently available, but maybe you could find a used copy.

I am stunned. They captured my life in DHS perfectly in just a few minutes!
