As Apple shrinks the iPad, Google announced today that they are expanding the Nexus to a 10-inch model. Wi-Fi, no cellular. Let's compare the numbers:

$500 32 GB | $600 32 GB |
nope | $700 64 GB |
2560 x 1600 | 2048 x 1536 |
10.055 inch diag. | 9.7 inch diag. |
300 ppi | 264 ppi |
5 MP rear camera | 5 MP rear camera |
1.9 MP front | 1.2 MP front |
1080p video | 1080p video |
603 grams | 603 grams |
263.9 x 177.6 mm | 241.2 x 185.7 mm |

Similar enough that the decision comes down to price, your need for cellular, customer support, OS, and their respective app stores.

The cellular is easy enough to accomplish on the Google Nexus tablet by using your cell phone as a wifi hotspot.
The specs on the Google Nexus seem to make it the better choice unless you absolutely have to have the 64GB.
And unless Google has the same manufacturing problems in China as does Apple, with the Google Nexus you get the added feature of a clear conscience knowing the worker that put your device together was not driven to suicide by intollerable working conditions.
