MSWD Receives $10.3 Million For Sewers

During yesterday's special meeting of the Mission Springs Water District board of directors, word was received that the district's application for a loan of $10,319,367, with $5,159,684 (50%) in principal forgiveness had been approved by State Water Resources Control Board. The loan will be repaid through assessments on the properties that benefit directly from the construction of the sewers. The assessments have already been approved by the forward-looking residents of the areas to be assessed.

This "is the largest single infusion of non-local funding for sewers in the history of the District."

The money will be used to build about 60,000 feet of sewers along the fronts of about 1,525 parcels in areas "F" and "M-1." Area "F" is mostly between Hacienda and Two Bunch Palms Trail, from Cholla on the west to Verbena on the east. Area "M-1" is part of "M" (where else?) which is outside the city limits, east of Avenida Manzana, south of Camino CampaƱero, north of Dillon. Beside the short-term boost in jobs, the sewers will protect the award winning water in our aquifer and increase property values.

This great economic development was initially delayed because of an initiative that would have crippled the district's ability to fund itself. That initiative is still active and is still being sponsored by Tim Brophy, Mary Stephens, Steve Sobotta and Doug Sherman. The initiative has cost the district more than $200,000 so far. As the bill continues to climb, we might want to suggest that those four sponsors finance a Wellness and World Music Festival as a way to make it up to the customers of the district who are going to end up footing the bill one way or another.

Is this the same Mr. Brophy that said how bad the recall is? He rents houses to people and of course lower water rates save him a bunch of money. Imagine, he is all for citizens exercising their rights for a ballot measure to lower the water rates. Amazing! But wait! So now it is his civic duty with his last breath and his last dollar to fight a recall of city council (I actually think the recall is a bad idea). All I am saying is this guy obviously is on whatever side suits his wallet. I hear he has business with one or more of the council members so of course the recall hurts his wallet and he thinks it is terrible. I am glad we have a good water company. Way to go water company. Mr. Brophy leave town!

Same Tim Brophy. The initiative has been around since 2010.

This is his statement looks as hes a true snakeskin salesman, Costing the city and water district and the tax payers money he says In a city with real problems and children in it who will, in fact, go to bed hungry tonight, we have far greater problems to solve, jobs to create and mountains to climb.

Fellow citizens, please join me for a climb to a better day where jobs are plentiful, housing is affordable, and we are the city we can be proud of. For those who don't, with my last breath and dollar in my pocket, I will fight against this foolish action. Good night and God bless our city.Hes here to make money thats all and nothing else ,or show me what he has done good so far for Dhs?

I am confused dose not take much is this the same Tim Brophy who was going to spend every penny he has to support the council now sponsoring a negative initiative to mswd makes you wonder but ask the question hes a large water user with the laundry in town.now look This great economic development was initially delayed because of an initiative that would have crippled the district's ability to fund itself. That initiative is still active and is still being sponsored by Tim Brophy, Mary Stephens, Steve Sobotta and Doug Sherman. The initiative has cost the district more than $200,000 so far.
