DUI Driver Kills Cyclist

On Saturday, May 2, 2012 at about 9:44 p.m. officers from the Indian Wells Police Department responded to the intersection of Fred Waring Dr. and Bryson Court, in reference to a major injury traffic collision.

The 52-year-old Palm Desert resident was struck from behind while riding his bicycle and died at the scene. The investigation revealed that the bicyclist was struck by a 2003 Chrysler Sebring driven by Christopher Eugene Stocman, age 24 of La Quinta. The investigation revealed that Christopher Eugene Stocman had been driving while under the influence of alcohol when the collision occurred. Christopher Stocman was arrested for DUI and vehicular manslaughter. Stocman was later booked for these charges at the jail in Indio.
