Senator Reid Criticizes LDS Church For Prop 8

In a meeting with gay people this past weekend to discuss Don't-Ask-Don't Tell and DOMA and other federal anti-gay positions, Nevada Senator Reid, a Mormon himself, raised the issue of Prop 8.

"He said that he thought it was a waste of church resources and good will," said Derek Washington, a Nevadan who worked as the outreach director for the [weekend's gay rights] march. "He said he didn't think it was appropriate."

Senator Reid's office will not discuss the meeting, but won't deny the conversation.
