Blogging City Council Meetings

Dana Parsons who doesn't read much, I guess, has a column in the L.A. Times in which he imagines what it might be like in the future when webloggers start writing up smart-ass commentaries on city council meeting. Ooh, just imagine. I'm outta here on my jetpack.

I thought he might be trying to put down blogging as inferior to journalism, but one of the reasons I keep attending city council meetings and writing about them is that I found it useless to try to rely on The Desert Sun to get any real understanding of what was going on.

hmmm, if someone "covers" a city council meeting, doesn't that make them a journalist? i think he is skirting the inevitable question of "What's the difference between a blogger and a "journalist"?"

to be honest, i think your coverage of the DHS meetings and the CVMVCD meetings is far superior journalism to this smarmy little article of his.
