According to this Desert Sun article, there are more than 521,000 Californians holding real estate licenses, which is 1 in 54 Californians. To put this in more easily understandable terms, the number of Californians with real estate licenses exceeds the total population of Wyoming. Or, to draw on the inevitable Rhode Island comparison, if these Californians with real estate licenses were airdropped evenly across the land mass of Rhode Island, there would be about 499 licensed California real estate agents standing on every single square mile of that little state. If that sounds crowded, it's less than 1 per acre.
