Concerning Mahler in Jordan Hall

Tonight the Boston Philharmonic launched its 25th season with Mahler's 1st Symphony. It's going to be an all-Mahler season. They performed it right there in tiny little Jordan Hall.

In this first photo you see the orchestra warming up for Blumine and Songs of a Wayfarer. The stage is looking pretty full!

Here in this second photo you see the orchestra after the intermission, now performing the 1st Symphony itself. As you can tell, more chairs and more instruments have been crammed onto the stage. They were tight, but they played well.
