"The probe is on"
At a cricket match this past Sunday between an Indian team and a Pakistani team in Kashmir, "dozens" of Kashmiri students were heard cheering for the Pakistani team. The students have been suspended at their university and police are seeking 66 students for questioning. Some may be charged with sedition, which carries a possible life sentence. "However, the Indian Kashmir chief minister, Omar Abdullah, said any sedition charges would be 'unacceptably harsh'." Some of the students were accused of chanting "Hail Pakistan!"
India lost the match.

Another of those videos showing impossible physical feats being conducted flawlessly. It's 18 seconds until the first GoPro appears.

But In Russia
That is a sterilized, tame version of how it's done.
THIS is what it really looks like - real NSFW video of Russian gay bashings.
Mashup of the most popular GoPro videos. Click that green button. Ignore the text saying "Add comment." The green button doesn't do that.
I've seen much better GoPro surfing videos, but you know.
This video was linked with a not very interesting or informative article about GoPro going public in The Business Journals.
This Wall Street Journal article is much more informative, of course, and includes a phot of Nick Woodman holding up one of the original GoPros which used film. It says that GoPro's revenues have doubled every year reaching $500 million in 2012 when the company was valued at $2.3 billion, but it may not have doubled in 2013 (the year of the Hero3 debacle).

Ever wonder how those people who jump off cliffs to paraglide judge the wind and everything so they don't get slammed right back into the cliff? So do I. And here we have a video where the jumper was wearing two GoPros so we can see. We get one camera slo-mo first, then the second camera slo-mo, and finally we go back to the first camera and see it in real time so you can appreciate how very fast it goes.
Spoiler alert: "Compression Fracture of the T12 Vertebra, 5 stitches to the eye, 6 stitches to the chin, severely sprained Back, wrist and hand. multiple bruised areas."
Some successful jumps are shown here, some of which, I'm sure, were illegal.

First Ever LGBT Night At L.A. Dodgers
Friday, September 27, the Los Angeles Dodgers will host their first ever "LGBT Night Out." The opposing team will be the Rockies. The evening will feature the Gay Men's Chorus of Los Angeles singing the National Anthem with a "special guest" who damn well better meet the standards of every gay faction you can imagine. The first pitch will be thrown by "a celebrity" who also damn well better be gay - best make it a lesbian if we want the ball to get near home plate. On top of all that there will be the usual Friday night fireworks sponsored by Denny's "with music by DJ Manny Lehman." If you'd like to hear some of Mr. Lehman's DJ-ing, here's his Soundcloud account. Two days later he will be appearing at the Folsom Street Fair in San Francisco - which I suspect means he's a bona fide homosexual. I guarantee Dodger stadium will be a more comfortable venue for most of my readers.
If you go here and enter the promotional code OUT you will see the few mediocre sections where you can buy tickets at prices higher than they list here. If they were giving away lavender or pink ball caps I might make the drive.

Burning Man Ultramarathon Documentary
50 km race on the playa. It started before dawn and included four 7-mile laps of the city plus an extra out & back to make the full distance. The sun didn't get above the horizon until well into the second lap. This video seems to include no naked people, but I didn't really look that hard, so I could be wrong.

Burning Man Ultramarathon Results
The official (but not necessarily final final) results of the Burning Man Ultramarathon are here. I won't count the participants for you, but there are more than four pages of names. The "winner" (if you measure winning at Burning Man in terms of mere time) was Shaun Maguire of Corona del Mar, who finished in 3:32:51. The longest time for anyone who finished all 4 laps was 11:12:27 by Husani Blaze. The results are quite deficient, IMO, as they have not recorded how many gifts the runners gave or received during their run, nor how many alcoholic beverages were consumed. I'm especially interested in Husani Blaze's numbers. A 25-year old male, he may have been waylaid by one or more of the sex camps on the playa during his run.

Darren Young Comes Out
World Wrestling Entertainment celebrity Darren Young surprised a TMZ cameraman at LAX yesterday by coming out as gay. Some people consider this significant because he's the first WWE celebrity working at his level to come out. I think it's significant because it was done instantly and completely with none of the usual years of rumors and hundreds of ambiguous denials that seem to inevitably precede a celebrity's eventual coming out, at which point we just ask "They came out? But everybody knew he/she was gay, didn't they?" No, in Darren Young's case it was all nice, clean, 100%, and then he beat that cameraman's ass [no, not really].

Furbee Aquatics Center Really, Really Opens On Saturday At 10 AM

Get Your Fun On, Desert Hot Springs!
Desert Recreation District to Manage Desert Hot Springs Pool
Residents of Desert Hot Springs can splash away the heat this summer at the John H. Furbee Aquatics Center thanks to a recent agreement that appoints the Desert Recreation District (DRD) to manage the pool from June 8, 2013 until Labor Day.
The new pool located at 11750 Cholla Drive in Desert Hot Springs marks another milestone for Desert Hot Springs, as residents continue to explore the benefits of their new recreational facilities. "We wanted an experienced partner to help us manage and showcase this wonderful resource," commented Mayor Yvonne Parks. Unveiled in January, the John H. Furbee Aquatics Center has been hailed as an integral part of the Desert Hot Springs Health and Wellness initiative to support residents. "The opening of the pool complements the other programs and activities that are provided at the Center and really helps us focus on exercise as fun," she concluded.
As the Desert Recreation District gets geared up for the summer season, they are recruiting for life guards. Many positions will be filled by local teens looking for the "perfect summer job." "We are delighted to be supporting Desert Hot Springs," noted Kevin Kalman, General Manager of DRD. DRD provides recreational programming, activities and events throughout the Coachella Valley to include pools in Indio, Coachella and Mecca. "We are well-experienced in providing aquatics programs that engage our guests so that they become regulars throughout the season and bring their family and friends."
The pool opens with a ribbon cutting on Saturday, June 8th at 10 a.m. and free swimming until 3 p.m.
Lap and group swims, as well as swimming lessons will be offered for all ages. For information and a schedule or to sign up for lessons, contact www.MyRecreationDistrict.com or 760-347-3484. Para informacion en Español 760-396-0257.

Yesterday In Boston
Rancourt was born in 1939 in Lewiston, Maine. He first began singing the anthem in Boston at Fenway Park. He took part in an opera singing audition on the radio and was heard by John Kiley, long-time organist at both Fenway and the Boston Garden. Rancourt sang before Game Six of the World Series in 1975 when singer Kate Smith cancelled her appearance. Rancourt's ambition was to become an opera singer. The strength of his trained voice overcame the acoustic shortcomings of the old Boston Garden. In 1976, he began singing regularly for Bruins games.
Here you can see the warm up the crowd got before the Anthem with better photography of the audience singing than in the above video.

Angels vs. Padres in Tempe, Arizona
For the second day of baseball spring training (back in March) we went to Diablo Stadium in Tempe to see the Anaheim Angels play against the San Diego Padres. Our seats weren't as great as those we had the day before, so I got fewer photos of the players playing. But here are some:

Black Rock City Ultramarathon
The ultramarathon at Burning Man begins Wednesday (during burn week) at 5 AM and goes up to 50k (or until you get drunk). It's real, and because this is the first time I've seen a route described solely in words without use of any visual aids I made up the artist's concept below, which is how I translate the words. The starting point is camp Pink Lightning.
50 km is just a hair over 31 miles.

Cubs beat Royals in Mesa, Arizona
About three weeks ago I went with Ric over to Phoenix to see a couple of spring training baseball games. My first time to do that. On our first day Ric's nice neighbor gave us 4th row, 3rd baseline tickets to a Cubs/Royals game at Hohokam Stadium in Mesa. There are a lot of photos.
Warning sign on the power going to the scoreboard: "Do Not Shut Off This Switch. It May Not Work Again."
The teams were so generous with souvenir balls it was not unusual to see a kid with two balls, and this one was concealing his hoping to get a third.
It seems that every day a few players are designated to sign autographs until either (1) they die, or (2) the game begins, whichever comes first. Here is Mike Moustakis who was signing right in front of where we sat.
And then after the game, they did this amazing thing, allowing kids to run the bases. It was hilarious!
But now we must address a serious problem in major league baseball. Either someone has mal-designed the underwear for the ball players, or the official detergent of MLB is too harsh. We observed self crotch grabbing that was both chronic and ubiquitous. And not just at this day's game, but again the next day when we saw two other teams play. Some pitchers can't pitch without a crotch grab. Most third basemen cannot take up their position without a crotch grab. Batting seems to require nearly continuous crotch grabbing. This may lead to some repetitive stress injuries.
