Planning Your February 25

  • 8 AM to 11 AM, Blind Canyon Cleanup. Meet here [Google map] on Casa Grande Drive in Desert Hot Springs. "Volunteers are encouraged to bring their own personal safety supplies as well such as sunscreen, hat, gloves, closed-toed shoes, backpack, lunch, etc." They want you to "RSVP by close of business (4:30 p.m.) Friday, February 24th to Jennifer Taylor, Volunteer Coordinator at 760-833-7117 or by email at j5taylor@ca.blm.gov" And if you really want to save some time and inconvenience, print out this volunteer form, fill it in, and bring it with you.
  • 10 AM to 2 PM at DHS High School: the Earthquake Expo. Learn what you need to know and check out (and maybe purchase) earthquake supplies. Earthquake supplies are good in other emergencies too, like floods, power failures and Burning Man.
  • 2 PM to 6 PM is the Chili Cook-off to benefit Food Now. It's at Dillon Roadhouse. $15. Celebrity chefs. You eat chili and vote for your favorites. Music and fun stuff, too.
  • 3 PM to 4:30 PM if you really want to help take out the trash, a fundraiser for Dr. Raul Ruiz, Democrat, who is running for the seat currently held Mary Bono Mack. The fundraiser will be at 1080 E. Granvia Valmonte, Palm Springs, and is hosted by Sy Young, John Wong, Jerry Hanson and Les Zendle. Dr. Ruiz's website.

Bono Mack's 45th District Map detail
Bono Mack has yet to acknowledge on her website that DHS is now part of her district.
Come November you could forget to vote for her, or you could write in Jerry Lewis, or you could vote for Raul Ruiz. Choices, you have choices.
