Is there some other story here?
I ran across the story of Mark Berndt, a teacher at Miramonte Elementary School, on a couple of websites of unknown reliability yesterday. Today it's in the the L.A. Times, unchanged from what I read yesterday. It's an unusual one about child molestation, and you can read it or not, as you choose.
Couple of things about it ring really odd:
- Not one single kid ever complained or reported anything, even though the teacher made no attempt to keep it a secret, according to the article. It took months for detectives to identify the children in the photos.
- The evidence in the case came from film that the teacher took into a CVS for developing, probably in 2010. Why would someone who is molesting children and photographing the results use film in this day and age, and then drop it off at the neighborhood drug store? Was he even stupider than those guys who try to hook up those "13-year old girls" that they meet in online chats? Was he trying to get caught? Is it something else entirely?
My imagination fails me. Film. Madagascar roaches. Plastic spoons.

Many parents are now saying their kids did complain. But nothing was done. Of course the parents could have gone public with the complaints sooner, but did not. Odd.
