9th Circuit Ruling: No Fees To Enter Forest Service Lands
The court ruled that the U.S. Forest Service cannot charge a fee to someone who enters Forest Service lands but does not use the amenities or services. Just plain hiking, driving or parking on a road are activities that do not use amenities or services, the court said. Using a restroom, a grill, or drinking potable water from a faucet do constitute using amenities or services.
