DESCRIPTION OF INCIDENT:
At 1:35 AM on 7-7-09, two suspects committed a home invasion robbery at a residence in the 9800 block of El Mirador in DHS. Three of the residents were tied up and their property and vehicle stolen. Officers from DHS PD immediately began searching for clues and for the suspects. The information regarding the stolen Nissan p/u was disseminated statewide.
Later on the night of the 7th, an officer from the Fontana Police Department located the stolen Nissan. The driver of the Nissan led officers on a short vehicle pursuit which ended when the driver crashed the Nissan into a guard rail. When he tried to run from the officers he was chased down by a police K-9, bitten, and captured. He was identified as Jerry Mark Brewer. Brewer was a wanted parolee at the time of his arrest.
Detectives from DHS PD drove to Fontana to conduct the follow up investigation. They located property in the Nissan that had been taken in the home invasion robbery. They also located the clothing worn by one of the suspects in the robbery.
Further investigation led detectives to a residence in Rancho Cucamonga belonging to David Ross Douglass. From there, detectives responded to a residence in Cabazon. At the Cabazon residence, detectives, with assistance from two teams of officers from San Bernardino County Sheriff's Office and a State parole apprehension team, took Douglass into custody.
