Los Angeles - The Walkable City

There's a great big hard thing going on in Los Angeles this weekend: two 20-mile urban walks, back to back. It's The Big Parade. Day One starts Saturday at 7 AM at Angel's Flight in downtown L.A. and ends 20 miles later at 6:45 PM at Laurel and Hardy's Music Box Stairs. It's a very circuitous route. Day One's map is here (the route is easier to make out if you select simple "map" view rather than "satellite") and here is the timetable and route description.

Day Two they let you sleep late. It doesn't start until 8 AM at the Music Box Stairs. You'll walk 21.4 miles on another circuitous (and hilly) route that ultimately brings you to the Hollywood Sign! Day Two Map and timetable and route description.

You will see that these are not loop routes. You're on your own to hop a bus or have somebody pick you up to take you back to wherever you want to be.
