I Thought Schwarzenegger Was An Austrian

I've been told the Governor grew up in Austria. He's got that accent. And Austrians speak German, generally. So why in this video does he mispronounce Porsche the same way as your average NASCAR fan: like "porsh." The name is German, so it's got two syllables: "porsh-uh." What the hell? Did Arnold actually grow up in Kentucky?

According to this article in the L.A. Times the budget talks are being done behind closed doors, so not all details are known, but Darrell Steinberg (Democrat) is named as the leader on the push to raise registration fees.

Schwarzenegger had proposed a flat $12 increase, but he has not said he would oppose the bigger registration fee increase.

A Google news search for 'Schwarzenegger "fresh idea"' turns up nothing, so I can't find the news story you're referring to.

Speaking of this blundering fool, Arnold got elected as he promised he would not raise registration fees on autos which was a way that Davis was going to fix the budget crisis way back. So guess what he's proposing now to fix the current budget mess of spending beyond means in California, a 3x hike in auto fees which he claims is a "fresh idea".
