Koyaanisqatsi
Finally, available now for your secret pleasure, the complete Koyaanisqatsi can be viewed and heard on Google video. This is the Godfrey Reggio/Philip Glass/Ron Fricke masterpiece that you have, doubtless, heard denounced so much.
Where's Google videos loop button. I thought there used to be one.
A welcome assault on the senses, 'Koyaanisqatsi' is not for the impatient or nervous. You have to give it time because it is slightly dull in the very beginning, as the music and landscapes are fairly ordinary. Once it gets going, its really fascinating. Some gorgeous images, none generated by a computer I might add, and a soundtrack to match the intensity makes this a unique movie experience. I saw it on the big screen when it was first released, and it was MUCH better than on my not-that-big television.
I was once fortunate enough to see this film in Boston's Symphony Hall with the Philip Glass Ensemble playing the score live. THAT is the way to see it, but failing that, and if you'd like a good preview before you go buy the DVD, enjoy Google's postage stamp version.
