"The Advocate" does Ron Paul
The Advocate (the gay one, not the Jewish one) has published an article about Ron Paul and whether gay libertarians like him or not. The article hits on every point where Paul's politics are inconsistent with a libertarian position, like his support for the Defense of Marriage Act. Paul calls himself a Constitutionalist, not a libertarian, but he's also an inconsistent Constitutionalist. He supports Don't Ask/Don't Tell, for example, which certainly violates the 14th Amendment.
says Rob Power, who chairs Outright Libertarians, a gay group within the [Libertarian] party, and supports [Libertarian presidential hopeful George] Phillies's candidacy. "Paul's ideology is socially conservative/traditionalist/federalist. It's not really Libertarian because it still supports government control over individual lives -- merely at the state, not federal, level. Paul is likable and principled, but his principles are biblical, not Libertarian or even Constitutionalist, because he ignores the 14th Amendment's equal protection clause."
