Weather Bonk
A site that combines current weather info with Google maps. Here's Desert Hot Springs. You'll notice there are a couple of camera icons over near Big Bear Lake. A couple of clicks and we see there's enough snow up there for sledding and skiing!
Weather Bonk also claims to offer a fog overlay for the San Francisco Bay area, but either it isn't working, or it is one totally fogless day today.
Another feature is weather along your route. Interestingly, you can choose modes of travel other than motor vehicle, and Weather Bonk adjusts the time scale for you. For instance, I can tell it I'm bicycling from Desert Hot Springs to San Francisco. It assumes I will bike along I-210 to I-5, of course, and ride nonstop, day and night...as any cyclist would. It has me taking 32 hours, 44 minutes to travel the 491 miles. My calculator tells me that's an average speed of about 15 MPH.
There are also traffic maps showing "incidents," hazardous conditions and traffic cams. The density of traffic cams in New York City is notable. OTOH, Kansas City doesn't offer much.
